Chapter 1

The story begins with an elderly man named Mr. Ercolano, also known as Freddy, who is lost in his thoughts at the Long Island Center for Senior Care. The attendant tries to understand what “Nonna eggs” are, but Freddy is immersed in memories that he hadn’t thought of in over 70 years.

Chapter 3

After the passing of Donato, Nonna became increasingly withdrawn and wore black every day. Bobbie took on the responsibility of caring for her parents, while her sisters were married and had families of their own. Bobbie and her husband, Fred, lived with Nonna and Donato due to the scarcity of post-WWII apartments.

Chapter 4

Fred and his family are living in a cramped apartment in a hot neighborhood in Brooklyn. Fred works hard as a building maintenance man to support his family. They are excited about their upcoming move to a bigger house in a town called Commack. However, the move is difficult for Nonna, who has lived in the same neighborhood for 40 years and will miss being close to her family.

Chapter 5

The apartment was filled with family, laughter, and delicious smells as a gathering took place. Uncle Pat, known as Red, was a favorite uncle who raised pigeons and had a large dog named Boots. During dinner, Fred announced that they were moving to a town called Commack on Long Island, causing mixed reactions from the family.

Chapter 6

Thanksgiving was approaching, and the family had another important event. Fred excitedly called Bobbie from the street, urging her to come outside. Bobbie and the kids quickly got ready, while Nonna joined them more slowly. The commotion attracted the attention of their neighbors, Angie and Tessie, who also joined them.
